Small changes in daily routines can create big gains

Sharing at KidSTART Montfort Care

In September, we had the privilege of partnering with KidSTART Montfort Care to share practical ways to support children and families with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

During the session, we explored everyday challenges that families often face, including:

• Speech and language development

• Understanding children's behaviour

• Supporting children with big emotions
  

We wrapped up the session by sharing simple, realistic strategies that parents and caregivers can use at home:

• Observe, wait and listen to better understand your child

• Say less, stress, go slow and show to help your child develop language

• Create predictability and structure to help children feel safe

• Use co-regulation, stay calm to help your child calm down

• Catch children doing something right

• Model the language and behaviour you want to see

• Be consistent, small actions done regularly make a big difference
